Substantial income tax refunds are available with the Certificate Respecting Impairment.>

If you have an impairment that restricts your ability to perform a basic activity of ever day life you might qualify for the disability tax credit. The combined refunds from claiming this amount with Revenue Quebec and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is in excess of $1,600 for the 2013 tax year. In order to qualify you must submit the CRA form T2201 Disability Tax Credit Certificate and Revenue Quebec form TP-752.0.14-V Certificate Respecting Impairment. Revenue Quebec will also accept the CRA form T2201 in lieu of the TP-752.0.14-V. Since you must submit original copies to both tax agencies is better to use the TP-752.0.14-v for Quebec as it is much easier to understand and process when compared to the CRA T2201.

In addition to claiming the disability amount you can also claim a supplement for dependents who qualify for the disability tax credit, including adult children. The supplement can add additional tax refunds in excess of $800 per year. Other deductions that can be applied to your tax return include enhanced medical expenses, disability support deduction, exemption from the Quebec prescription Drug Insurance Plan and Adapted Work Premium. The disability supports deduction can reduce the income tax you have to pay by deducting from your total income any disability support expenses you paid in the year to earn income, go to school or run your own business. If you or your spouse has a severely limited capacity for employment, you may be entitled to the Adapted Work Premium. The premium is based upon your family situation, your work income and your family income. The monthly premium ranges from $1,060 monthly for a single adult up to $3,530 for a couple with one child.
